Field Notes 18 Kris Hall Demo Day

The wind was perfect, the tide was right, and Kris Hall loaded up 15 sticks for the public to flock over and shred on. Newport Beach is home to one hell of a fun logging wave called Blackies, our whole town is comprised on shorebreak style waves that are fast, dumpy, and close to shore... Blackies is somehow a logging shorebreak spot which sounds odd but if you've experienced it before then you know that it can stretch out long, punch trim walls even when its knee high.

Hailing from LA's South Bay, Kris Hall is no stranger to logging in powerful shorebreak style surf, he makes it down to Blackies quite a bit and it's pretty obvious that he has a great time judging by the level of surfing he puts on when visiting here. We spent the day jazzing out with tons of friendly faces coming to tower 22 to test ride Kris's classy sticks. Needless to say, everyone had an absolute blast! And we were lucky enough to have the day documented by Nico Ramos, a talented young filmmaker in his own right and multiple times per day Daydream regular.

If you haven't attended one of our demos, keep an ear out for the next one! It's a great way to experiment with a ton of different boards, meet a shaper, and get to know the details behind their designs straight from the horses mouth. A special thank you to all the folks that came out and Kris Hall for rounding up so many beautiful boards!
