Jason Woodside is a visual artist specializing in painting with acrylics and aerosols. Virginian
born, Woodside spent most of his childhood growing up in St. Augustine, Florida. In the early 2000’s, he moved to New York City to attend the School of Visual Arts.
His work is characterized by vivid colors and fades with contrasting bands of patterns and shapes. Taking inspiration from textiles, light and nature, employing various bold textures in public exterior settings to generate visual cohesion and optimistic emotions.
New works presented by Daydream is Woodside’s latest body of work exploring his ongoing
attraction to nature, embracing the environments evolvement and celebrating its asymmetry. This study is conveyed through a broad range of mediums including studio blueprints, textiles, canvas and functional art, to help convey the evolution of the artist’s creative
subconscious. Woodside’s artistic technique is reflected through his unique eye for colour, light and movement, applying his familiar geometric patterns using acrylic sprays and a playful reaction between oxide pigment and sea water.
To prepare for this exhibition, the artist created a body of work from several perspectives, including The Ecology Center in California and his hometown of St. Augustine, Florida, immersing in these thriving environments and communities. His large scale, hand painted murals can be seen on inner city walls around the world including Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Madrid, Tokyo, Sydney and London.
