8'9" Gato Heroi Surfar
Hand shaped by Robin Kegel in his last batch of Gato Heroi's shaped before leaving California for 2018. The Surfar model is a user friendly all around blade that dances the line between a long midlenth and low volume log. The outline exhibits a forward wide point and a rounded pin tail to yield a beautifully organic teardrop shape. The rail foil is forgiving and down turned to roughly a 70/30 distribution. The bottom contour is rolled in the nose and transitions into a rolled vee out the tail. The rocker profile is low and flat with a little more nose rocker pushed forward to match the wide point. This Surfar's forward volume provides a comfortable home base north of the wide point for building trim speed and a secondary sweet spot back towards the tail for delivering that speed and unloading it into turns.
