8'8" Fineline Son Of Sam
The Fineline Son Of Sam (SOS) is based off of Nat Young's Magic Sam that won him the 1966 World Surfing Championship title. Surf historians often say that this board is responsible for beginning surfing's Evolution Era that spanned from roughly 1966 - 1971 where the mainstream surfboard change dramatically to allow surfers to surf in more critical sections of the wave, in and around the pocket. Young's Magic Sam allowed surfer's to break the straight line that was considered to be the line of choice for the typical 10ft., 30 pound, D-Fin. The Magic Sam and SOS alike are refined, narrow, and thin with convex bottom contours running from nose to tail. This is a spunky size, the 8'8" can turn well off the tail, trim at light speed, and allow an apt logger to get some quality hang fives and an occasional ten. Luckily we have a replica of this board available for folks to test slide at our shop as apart of our members based Surf Club. Rather than reading about it, why don't you come down and give it a spin!
