6'7" Dick Brewer 74 Wing Pin
6'7"
Words from Chuck Brewer -
Are you inspiried to feel the simple pleasure of surfing a wave? This shape theory follows the progression of the evolving 70s’ era as a “pocket rocket” tube shooter with more ease and versatility of a line. An all-around versatile surfboard Alrik found in the Brewer family Collection, hinting back to the days of Wondering Bill and a young Gary Linden. By this time, Brewer shapes were in a state of refinement, yet remaining true to the revolutionary RB down rail of the early 70’s. Dick loved speed and this board harnesses and accelerates the waves energy; an experience to be felt and explored. A versatile board relevant to some A-frames with a little juice, and fast moving pockets. A great travel companion for relevant many waves around the world.
Brewer 6.75 Polycarbonate Box Fin: The Winged 74” comes with an original fin from the 70’s from the Brewer families’ stash. The rounded thicker entry foil is in perfect harmony with flex patterns of the injection molded polycarbonate plastic. It allows the fin to flex through the radius of a turn. You will be blown away by the hydrodynamics flow of the rounder thicker entry foil of this fin; it is an experience to be felt and may be a design from the past that is integral to the future.
Shapers Musing by Alrik Yuill-
My intention with these boards is to keep my fingerprint to a minimum while at the same time letting things flow, channeling the spirit + my learning and feel of numerous iterations of design. Dick was a living and ever evolving shaper and designer. These shapes aren’t exact copies of one singular board but are dedicated to faithfully bringing to life the spirit within the shapes and designs.
Happy to have helped reawakened some life into these timeless shapes so they will be felt in the water by current and next generation of wave riders. These surfboards have been thoughtfully tuned. With the help of modern tech and dedicated friends, together we have honored Dick’s spirit.
It started when walking around Brewer family vault of boards. It became more real when Hank lent me his Brewer to ride; friends trusted me with their prized 70’s Brewers, and then the kind guidance from Gary Linden, Pat Rawson, and visit with Jack Reeves. This has been so meaningful to me and I am forever grateful for their voices as part of and what has made these boards special.
On the tech front, Tristan scanning and measuring with a mindfulness to the nano, quality blanks, Brando and Kevin delivered precision cuts, and the boys at Golden State Glassing; Brian Anderson, Jay Boy, Eddy, Ryan Manne down to the pin lines beautifully articulated by Terry! It took a whole lot of care by the whole crew every step of the way!
