Between recording albums, touring, going on surf trips, and managing the Costa Mesa Conceptual Art Center, Costa Mesa's Alex Knost manages to squeeze in some time to shape some select sleds. The Disco model is a contemporary refinement on the Space Pins we all know and love from Knost's early stages of his shaping career. The Disco exhibits a teardrop outline with the wide point forward and a pulled in pin tail. The bottom contour starts with a rolled entry that transitions into a double concave between the fins. The rail foil is forgiving and moderately boxy with a good amount of forward volume that is blended into a thinner tail, the rail foil in the tail is pretty hard as well. From the deck the rocker looks pretty flat however the rolled entry builds in a bit more noserocker into an otherwise low rockered design. The narrow tail will allow for the Disco to fit into critical sections of the wave and project turns through steeper sections while the low rocker and high volume will also allow the design to coast through softer parts of the wave.
