Field Notes 27 Elmore Surfboards

Film by Daydream Surf Shop Editor, Cinematographer: Josh Walker Surfers: Josh Walker, Mitch Tysler

We’re back with another episode of Field Notes, our session edits featuring members of our community. Today, we have the pleasure of showcasing Troy Elmore’s surfboards being surfed by our very own Josh Walker and Mitch Tysler. You may recognize Josh’s name from this piece or as editor and cinematographer on several pieces we’ve made together over the last couple years. Josh is a very rare breed of surfers that excel on being behind the lens as well as in front of the camera. It’s nice to see him surfing his Elmore Sam’s Club, a model that we’ve been carrying at our shop and holding in our demo quiver for folks to ride since the early days of Daydream.

We are very lucky to have Troy Elmore as a friend and community member, his designs speak for themselves and embody the technical skill of a legendary board builder trapped in a young man’s body. We can’t encourage you enough to stop by the shop and demo some of the Elmores we have in our rack. We have three new demos that have recently landed:

5’6” My Fish which has evolved from his previous fish model, the Frye’d Fish, to allow for a subtle departure from the feeling of a more classic fish in favor of more contemporary fish design attributes that inch out a few more notches of turnability for high performance surfing.

We also have a 9’0” S’eagle model which is one of Elmore’s more underground models, we expect this to change as everyone who has surfed this model really likes it. This is Troy’s speed shape inspired model that pulls inspiration from many places to occupy the space of a more voluminous midlength or a lower volume longboard designed for swiveling turns off the tail and trimming down the line with a relaxed ease.

Last but not least, a crowd favorite, 9’5” Sam’s Club which can only be described as the perfectly balanced longboard. Spunky enough for sweeping turns yet stable enough for tasteful noseriding, this is a log you could learn to surf on and spend the rest of your life growing into. It has been a favorite of our demo quiver for years.

Cruise down to the shop and check out more of Troy’s new boards in person or check them out on our website if you don’t live nearby.
