Ben Did Go Catalina Paddle Fundraiser
Help support our shop owner, Kyle, in his efforts to raise awareness and donations for Newport Beach's Ben Carlson Foundation. Kyle will be participating in the Ben Did Go 30 mile paddle from Catalina Island to Newport Beach on September 16th marking the 8th fundraising endurance paddle for the foundation. Our goal is to raise $1500 for the foundation which goes towards water safety domestically and internationally as well as supporting junior lifeguard programs and scholarships.
For those who are unfamiliar with Ben Carlson's story, at the young age of 32 Ben lost his life saving a drowning victim here in Newport Beach. He jumped off the Newport Beach Lifeguard patrol boat into huge surf to save a distressed swimmer and lost his life in successfully saving theirs. Ben was the first and only Newport Beach Lifeguard to die in the line of duty. Every year the Ben Did Go paddle across the Catalina channel helps to raise donations to keep this wonderful foundation active in promoting efforts of water safety here in Newport, domestically, and internationally.
